It's Baby Time!

My doctor just checked me and I'm a 4 almost a 5 so I'm going to the hospital to have our daughter.  Wish me luck and we'll post info later.

Hanging In There

I was supposed to have an appointment with my OB on Tuesday but she had a delivery come up.  We rescheduled my appointment for Wednesday and then, Jared and I went and took a tour of the hospital to get familiar with it before it's time to go in ourselves.  The lady was super nice and funny and she told me that I needed to add two things to my packing list for the hospital.  The first is my own pillow.  She told us the ones there are bad.  Your head sinks right down to the bed.   The second is a boppy pillow for nursing.  It makes it easier.

I had always wanted a boppy pillow since I had a somewhat hard time nursing with Hadley and a friend of mine told me an inexpensive way to get one.  They sell the pillow forms at Joanns under a psuedo name of Nurture Nest.  The pillow form is $19.99, but if you use a coupon on it, it's only $12 ($9.99 if you use a 50% coupon instead of 40%).  It comes with a pattern on the back to sew a washable cover for it.  I figured since I have a bunch of extra fabric at home, I can easily make a whole boppy for under $15 if you don't have the zipper.  Here is a picture of my result.  It's a little misshapen, but I am pleased with how it looks.

As for the rest of my update, I went in with Jared on Wednesday and weighed in at just over 162 lbs.  I am 42 1/2 inches at my biggest point around and I am at a firm 3.  I'm still trying to lay low to make it through Saturday night without having the baby and then anything can happen, whenever.

Domestic Projects While Taking It Easy

There were a couple of things I had been wanting to make in preparation for our new daughter and since I needed to take it easy, what better thing to do then to sit in front of a sewing machine and have at it.  These are my 3 most recent and complete projects for her. Please excuse the mess in some backgrounds.

Her hooded baby towel

A Nursing Cover that will not fall off if tugged by baby

And I need help with this one.  I need some comments about the blessing dress I made her.  I'm trying to decide if I should add another row of ribbon on the tulle in between the bottom two.  What are your thoughts?  If I shouldn't then I can finally say this dress is done.

Here is a picture of the dress I made Hadley for her blessing.  It's from the same pattern, but I decided it came out too long so I figured I would tweak it a little for this baby.

Birthday Number 2

So I was planning on having my second birthday cake on my actual birthday.  This one was a Carvel Ice Cream Cake.  Same cake as I had made up for my wedding cake.  I picked up some Chinese Food for an easy dinner and was planning on doing cake too, but the kids were so exhausted and moody from their non-naps today that I decided to move cake to the next night because I had had enough of my kids and their emotions for my birthday.  Here are the pictures.

Weekly Check-Up

Another update for everyone on baby number 3.  I saw my doctor again today to see how things are going.  I am finally at full term at 37 weeks so the baby can come anytime.  I got checked again because I had been having more pressure and the baby seems to have dropped more and she said I was a 2, almost a 3.  She replied with, "Well, the baby is definitely going to be here before your due date so if I get a call anytime soon, I'll expect it."

I am 162 lbs. and wondering if this baby will be like Hadley where I have her within the next week.  We shall see I guess.

Problem Solver

Just a quick note.  Hadley is totally a problem solver.  Besides changing 4 times before quiet time today, she found out where I hid her dress up clothes on the top shelf of her closet behind some stuffed animals.  She decided to go into Hayden's room and push both of his bins full of GeoTrax into her room to climb up and reach the dresses herself.  Now that's ingenuity!

Easter Morning

This was the best picture we could get in their Easter outfits before going to church.  Hadley was the first to dive into the Easter baskets this year.  She usually comes to our door every morning and lies in front of it with a blanket waiting to hear us inside.  Then, she usually starts talking asking, "Where are you?"  "Mommy!  Daddy?!"  and other such things.  Instead for Easter, she was quietly trying to navigate her Easter basket without making very much noise.  Jared finally went out and checked on her and helped her eat a few pieces.  Hayden, was happily content on playing upstairs and it took Hadley to be sent up to get him to show him there was a bunch of cool stuff on the table for him from the Easter Bunny.

They got a bunch of loot and enjoyed having a few pieces and then eating more breakfast before having more.  We couldn't dwell on it for too long though because time was ticking and we had the early morning church block this year.

More pictures are on the website as usual if you want to take a peek.

One Year Older and Wiser Too!

Okay, so I don't feel wiser, but that's okay because that definitely happens over a lifetime.  I decided since Easter was the day before my birthday this year, I would celebrate with some family early on Saturday.  I picked up this pick old sheet cake from Sams Club because I was craving 2 different kinds of cakes for my birthday this year.  I really wanted a cake like the one I had way back at my bridal shower which was chocolate cake with raspberry filling and whipped cream topping.  It would've taken more time and money to pick up that kind of cake because it had to be custom made so I settled with no filling.
Jared's parents and brother came over for dinner, cake and games.  I made pizza to eat with salad and green Jello and it tasted awesome.  We talked a little bit and then dove into cake and ice cream.  Then it was bedtime for the kiddos so I put them down and we started a game of Settlers of Catan which is way fun to play.  That was the game that was interrupted by the "I dripped!" from the previous post :0)
It's been a fun 26 years so far.  I have done a lot in my life and I enjoy being a mom despite the bumps and meltdowns.  I look forward to meeting our newest edition in a couple weeks as well.  I am grateful for how blessed I am with my husband and all he does for us as well as my kids and their random humor and personality that makes me forget other things.  Family gives you a new sense of purpose in life and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Needless to say, I had a really fun and enjoyable time celebrating my birthday and I think we'll have Carvel cake for Monday night because I've been wanting that for a while now too.

Sick Season Continues

Our kids have finally recovered from being sick once again.  THey spent a part of the weekend of General conference into next weekend having some kind of bug.  Hadley had it first and threw up a couple times, but it was always randomly during or after napping and she only did it like once a day which was weird.  Hayden however, had it much worse and was throwing up more often.  After having him puke 3 times between 1 and 5 in the morning all over bedding and carpet, I finally instituted the bucket to try and prevent more cleaning because I was getting fatigued from it.  He spent a couple days on the couch with towels, bucket, crackers and drink and nothing seemed to want to stay in his body.  After 2 days, he finally showed some improvement and could sleep through the whole night without waking me up.  Whenever he needed to throw up, he would yell, "I dripped afterwards!"

One night, he came down to tell me he dripped and then started coughing at the foot of the stairs.  Concerned about cleaning puke off of carpet I told him to run to the toilet nearby real quick.  He did and things made it mostly in the toilet, but he still seemed more concerned that he got stuff on him since he was standing up over the toilet, not leaning into it.  My son is the one who doesn't like to be messy worth a bean and needs to be consoled before he'll listen to anything else you have to say.

Anyways, He's better now, even though he seems to still be milking the demeanor of being sick which I need to change quick in my opinion.  But on Saturday night, we were downstiars playing games and I heard him scream "I dripped!" and I feared the worst.  He was running around all confused and concerned.  As soon as I got upstairs, I found trickles of diarrhea from his room to the bathroom and I mean all over the bathroom.  He refused to sit on the toilet to finish due to his legs being covered with poop.  I knew, due to his nature, he would not listen to a word I say until he is clean again.  I kept trying to get him to stop crying and listen and finally a couple minutes later he started listening.  I finally told him I will get around to cleaning him off, but needed to grab some things first and that I would be right back.

After cleaning the pathway to the toilet from poop, I moved the dirty clothes to start soaking and the rug that was smeared as well.  I finished cleaning his legs and body and then changed him for the rest of the night.  In some aspects, I am grateful that it was not throw up, but running poop isn't much fun either.  Sorry for being gross, but there was my reality once again dealing with sick kids.

Ultrasound Limits

We got to go see the baby yesterday for one last time before she comes and joins our family.  Yes...it is still officially a girl and now that we have that little fact re-verified, maybe we can finally come to a conclusion on names or maybe not.  Maybe still bring a short list of names and a book for back-ups.  Anyways, the whole process was a bit too much for our family to wait for it turns out and the results were kind of disappointing in a sense.

We arrived a little early before our appointment like we were supposed to and there were 2 people in the waiting room so I felt relieved and exciting that this will be a quick process.  BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!

After seeing multiple people go in and out before us and gauging my uncomfortableness with sitting and feeling nauseous on top of Hadley getting antsy after being there for 45 minutes, I finally waddled over to the desk and asked the lady how much longer it might be because I am uncomfortable and my kids are getting restless.  She replied with, "You're still waiting?!  Let me go see what she is up to."  She came back and reported that she was working on the last patients report and should be out soon.

Before we were finally pulled back there, we saw yet another women get called in and at that point Jared just laughed at the ridiculous nature of this whole process.  When we were headed back, she asked if I needed to go the bathroom in which case I told her I probably should because I wasn't expecting to wait that long.  Afterwards, Jared told me that she was approached by people asking what she was doing all that time and what she was doing now and she tried to justify things by saying she was waiting for her patient who had to go the bathroom and acted like she didn't know why I hadn't gone before.  IT'S BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW I WOULD BE WAITING AN HOUR FOR MY ULTRASOUND!!

Anywho, when we were in the room getting everything checked, Hadley was struggling all over and voicing her opinion.  Then, the tech asked her what was wrong and Jared replied, she's tired of waiting since we've been here for an hour and a half waiting.  Duh!  If a family is here waiting for an ultrasound, you shouldn't put them off and make the appointment stressful and miserable.  I felt like she just breezed through things to measure and didn't much care about getting any good or cute shots of our daughter which made me upset.  She could have at least done that for making us wait that long with an ornery kid.  These are the only ones we got to take home.  Sad, but they will have to do.

The good news is that the head is down where it is suppose to be and she measures about 6 lbs. even right now.

Getting Closer

I don't think these pictures do my belly any justice, but here are the most recent fat shots.  I am still bigger than I was with both of my other kids at this point.  I'm about 158 lbs. and feeling the pressure already.  Everyone says I look great, but I totally don't feel great.  I am soooo ready to pop.  Hope you enjoy the shots.
